Cramer Hall Physical Access Notes

The comments on this building are taken in part from the 1991 Access Guide published by the Students with Disabilities Union. We thank them for allowing us to copy their material for this guide. It should be noted that many remodels and improvements have occurred in PSU building in the years since the 1991 Guide. So many of these comments may be some what antiquated. Please bear with us as we update and refine this access tool for our campus. Please send us an e-mail on anything you note that requires correction.
Building Access and Approach:
Sub-Basement: underground walkway from Lincoln Hall basement. There's no electric door here, and the only other accessible way out of here is through the north side elevator (which is extremely slow). Basement: underground walkway from the south, Smith Memorial Student Union, some inclines. Electric door entrance from north Mill Street level. First Floor: Accessible street level entrance from Montgomery Street level is on the south side, and is equipped with an electric door. The north door (Mill Street) entrance has stairs. Second Floor: Access from elevators only. Third Floor: Access from main skywalk (south side of building) that comes from Smith Memorial Student Union, School of Business/Education, and University Services Building. Entrance is equipped with a push button electric door. Fourth Floor: Access through the skywalk to the south, to Smith Memorial Center. This skywalk is enclosed, and has a student lounge with vending machines and an enclosed smoking lounge (Room 400A).   

Classrooms and Meeting Rooms:
Lecture Room 53, top level, north entrance only. There is a powered entry door to Room 53 in the north sub-basement corridor. Lecture Room 71, can enter either door, but can use wheelchair on top level only.

Drinking  Fountains:
There are drinking fountains located throughout the building.

Elevators:
North side elevator is extremely slow and the buttons are hard to reach. The south side elevator is much more accommodating for speed, has Braille buttons, and a little lower than the north side elevator buttons.

 Restrooms:
Usable Men's restroom - 177, 203, 377, 405.
Accessible Men's restrooms - double door: 95, 195, 295, 395, 495.
Usable Women's restrooms - 105, 305, 477.
Accessible Women's restrooms - double door: 70 (unmarked), 170, 270, 277, 370, 470 & 477.
Unisex "Handicap" Restroom - This is designed for entry of both sexes should assistance be required. It is private, and has an "occupied" light on the outside. Located in Room 181.

Special Services:

Stairs and Handrails:
Second Floor: Locker rentals, and Lost and Found. Affirmative Action. Student Lounge on south side has vending machines.
Third Floor: 322 Computer Lab - IBM and Mac.

Telephones:
Campus phone across the hall from Room 90. Public coin phones: next to 55 and 355 electric supplies doors, across from 101, next to 171, 371 and across from 203.
