Science Two occupies portions of two blocks. One is between SW Tenth, Eleventh, the Mill Street right-of-way and the Montgomery Street right-of-way. The building extends south across the Montgomery Street right-of-way. Science One is just to the north, the old Campus and Grounds, Mary Ann, Harrison Street Building to the south and the student residence West Hall to the west. Science Two has four floors above ground, and three basement levels: upper, lower, and sub-basement. An accessible covered skybridge extends from the second floor at the north end of Science Two to the second floor of Science One. Most of the university's science department offices are in this building: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Science Support, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, the Center for Science Education, and the state of Oregon's Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Public Health Lab (PHL). The DEQ and PHL offices and laboratories are on the lower and upper basement levels. Each of these state agencies has a separate public entrance: the DEQ's is on the west side ground level of the building, at 1712 SW 11th Avenue and the PHL's on the east side at 1717 SW 10th Avenue. Campbell-Michael-Yost designed Science Two, which was built in 1969. Wheelchair access Science Two is on the southeast corner (just to the left of the large stairway in the above photo). See physical access notes and site plan link below. |
